One of the questions often put to me by… myself is: “Garry, why on Earth did you ever do a journalism degree? You’ve made absolutely no use of it, you can’t use it to get a job and it merely sits on your resume judging and mocking you like your expired first-aid certificate and year twelve leadership award. Get your life together, you useless, indolent NewsCorp reject.”

Ouch. That was a bit harsh. But I don’t mind the NewsCorp bit. I rejected them too.

So…

Well I’ve started volunteering with the ABC. Sort of I’m a Community Correspondent!

What the hell is that? Well, it’s kind of like a part-time volunteer journalist, except I have no deadlines, no quotas and no… pay. Basically when I come across something interesting in the community I whip out my smart phone, interview some people and send in the audio. Pretty sweet gig, right?

You can check out my CC profile any time, apparently. I'm told there’s some audio floating around the internet somewhere too.

Make of that what you will.
