Fathering a toddler with whom this blog has nothing to do has meant I haven’t had much room in my life for community theatre. But when a good friend of mine put out a casting call for my favourite Shakespeare with a vacancy for one of my favourite characters, I had to come out of reclusion for a few weeks.

Benedick has some absolutely epic monologues and some wonderfully funny, very relatable moments despite his larger-than-life personality.

I loved the authentic Aussie feel we were able to give this production, and the staging setting that let us transform the church hall into a country pub and stage the action amongst the audience was a fantastic choice.

I had an absolute blast doing this one, but unfortunately it did take a pretty heavy toll on family life. The inactive button has been reactivated on my theatrical pursuits for now but stay tuned for content one day about how my whole life doesn’t revolve around my son and this isn’t a daddy blog.

Make of that whatsoever thou wouldst
